Sneak peek at my next painting in progress... 🦚 The white peacock is a variation of the blue peacock native to the Indian subcontinent, but is now bred in captivity around the world.

It’s a strange thing, this mantel!

Is it mantle or mantel??? (Because autocorrect wants me to speak of the Earth’s core and I am talking about the structure above my fireplace)

Annywaaaay...as I posted back in December, each time I place a new painting on it...not long afterwards, the painting sells. 🌞

I’ve just placed “Sun Seeker” on the manifestation mantel because (yes, you guessed it) “The Burden of Time” (🟨⌛️) sold and I’ve shipped it off to Hollywood, FL. Previously, “Chinoiserie Garden” (🌿🍊) sold and headed to Greenwich, CT.

Let me know if you want to use my mantel. Warning: may not be sturdy enough to hold children or other large household objects. 😉

Sketchbook ⚠️ :: #The100DayProject began on January 31st, so I’m 29 days into this project. You’ll see in this video, 17/100, 18/100, 19/100, 20/100, & 21/100 here. I’ve overlapped this project with #thesketchbookproject just because I like to simplify (or maybe it’s because I like to complicate) things. Then, I show off this entire sketchbook which is headed to the @brooklynartlibrary and will be housed and touring worldwide inside volume no.18! 📒

I’ve ALSO started a new, smaller sketchbook (which is a 4” x 4”square one) to TRY and keep up with my days. I think I’ve been overdoing these things, adding too much paint, etc. I think I need to scale back on my sketches and make them a little bit more barebones. I had to varnish each of these pages so the pages wouldn’t stick together. I think I may start using a simple pencil ✏️ for the remainder to speed them up because trying to juggle these sketches with other large projects has been less integrated than than I’d imagined.

In a few days I’m switching to a MUCH tinier little square sketchbook so I’ll be mixing things up a bit. I’m finding it difficult to juggle both these paintings/sketches + my regular art practice.

This critically endangered species tends to breed in places in which there are massive volumes of trees available so that the bird can find tree holes to nest. Enjoy! 🌿

That’s the thing. It really does come down to what you BELIEVE you can do and accomplish. You were all super supportive of yesterday’s post about my children’s book (to be)💓. It has been a dream for years and I’ve written several that I have never followed through with. 🙈

The little Haiku book I put together last year was a bit easier because I painted the pieces first and then wrote around the paintings. My memoir, which I’m sure seems presumptuous since I am only in my 40’s and have virtually accomplished nothing of significance, needed to be written for my son about my education struggles and failures. Truly, it was not meant for public consumption and was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done but has been well received, regardless.

These little children’s books that I have already written (yes I’ve already written them) and am now trying to illustrate, seem to be a little disjointed with my current art direction, so I have trouble finding the time (making the time) to work on them. But, thank you, they are my heart. Thank you for all the comments yesterday, which gave me an extra push and the encouragement I need to “believe that I can”. 🤗
