Which title do you like better? “Red Ruffles” (for the type of azaleas that gave me this inspiration) or “Blue Ridge” (for the location from which I first ever saw them in person)? Among the most beautiful of South Carolina’s native flowering shrubs are azaleas. Red Ruffle azalea blooms are superb throughout the spring, but Red Ruffle is also well known to re-bloom again ( though not as heavily ) again in the fall. 🌺

Three long-legged Queen Anne’s lace (also known

Three long-legged Queen Anne’s lace (also known as wild carrot) rest on the left side of this large-scale neutral painting as they slowly turn to seed so as to start life once again. They sit within a field of high grasses protected from fertilization and outside developments. Free range and among other natural weeds, they live as a host plant for the eastern black swallowtail caterpillars, many butterflies, adult bees and other beneficial insects that utilize the flower’s nectar to flourish and give back life and color to our natural surroundings.

The passing of time has brought with it both beaut

The passing of time has brought with it both beauty and destruction to our land, and it is this combined harmony and tension that I strive to capture. I deliberately use negative space within my work to amplify a sense of balance and movement within a piece. Entertwining hints of nature with depth-filled negative space, I aim to explore the essence of our natural world and the ways in which it shapes our understanding of ourselves and our place within it.
